Kallum River April 15 2007
Jun 9 2007, 12:57 PM EDT
These fish were hooked and released while fishing with a group of excellent spey fishermen.
The first photo's a guestamate seven lbs.taken on a black leech on a beautful run on the upper reaches. The third photo's the one that got away, Marcel my pal from New Brunswick ( the one in the fur hat) hooked a beauty and then landed it only to have it jumpout of his hands into Scotts ( one in the red hat) hands then a flip, lung, grab , and into the river before a photo could be taken. Lot's of laughs at this one. Next is myself with a nice Spring salmon, I'm struggling with it so as not injure the fish and release it safely. This fish put up a wonderful fight used the river currents to his advantage and for awhile fought like a Coho rolling and boiling the waters. Looked like he would roll into my leader and snap it. We didn't get any photo.s of the times he jumped as we where surprised the way he came out of the water. He'd put his head down shaking it and then turn and fire to the surface and jump. The gentleman in the wide brimmed hat is Mike he traveled from England to fish the Kallum with us. He's showen with a nice bull trout and will post some with him and his Steelhead. Sandy it looks like you had a great time on the Kallum. The Kallum River certainly offers some great fly fishing in the Spring, as does some of the other rivers in the area. Thank you for your contribution, and I look forward to your next contribution.
