( Bram -"this could be the last time

Hey Bram, thanks for the update, September can be good, all depends on the weather and rivers of course. Good news it is unlikely that there will be any new implementations in the 2010-11 regulations as the Quality Waters Committee has requested for funding to re-do the whole process which they say was flawed. Like we did not know this! Most B.C. anglers did not agree with the proposals being recommended by the QWC in all the meeting I attended. So things are as was, for now. Hope we meet on the river or rivers this fall. Last September on the Skeena was phenomenal for both Steelhead and Coho. The Bulkley was also fishing well, but the Steelhead were slow coming the first week, besides in early September, you can get them on a dry. We had our pants pulled down on numberous occasions, by big and really bad Steelhead, on the Skeena in Sept. Till later ( Big Red ) Do you find this valuable?

According to my 'countdown' clock, another 40 days before we can wet some lines in BC again!
The 1st week we go to the Kispiox Steelhead Camp for our annual queste for a 40 incher, and the 2nd week we booked accommodation at the Two Rivers Lodge in Telkwa.
Lots of flies have been tied already.
How is the situation with the wild fires at this moment in your area??

The Steelhead should be showing in the Bulkley before the end of August, the rivers are looking better each day, as long as we do not get heavy rains things are on track for Steelhead season. Although I have not fished the Kispiox for Steelhead in years, one would think you have a better chance at a 40 incher in the Skeena before they reach the Kispiox. We have no fires in the Bulkley valley, but one burning in the Kispiox valley, which is nearly contained. Any thunder storms could have lighting stricks which could spark new fires at any time as the forest floor is tinder dry, and there is a total ban on camp fires at this time. We can only hope that mother nature provides us with great weather and clear rivers, and last tight lines this Steelhead season. till later ( Big Red ) Do you find this valuable?

I visit the Skeena Region now since 1990. So far I fished the Skeena near the mouth of the Kitwanga and a couple of times where the Kispiox enters the Skeena. On both places lots of natives were fishing with hardware. The river is so big and hard to read and you need a jetboat as I can see it.
There is so much water for our little flies!!

Hey Brambo, the Skeena River is very big, when flyfishing for Steelhead in the Skeena River you fish the river like it is only as big as your casting. Steelhead travel up the shore line and there are so many places you can walk to that are great gravel bars, you can't expect to fly fish for Steelhead in same water as others fish gear. Reading the water, look for Steelhead runs and there are many, the Skeena River will reward you ten fold. Many miles of the Skeena can be floated, by both drift boats and pontoon boats. It is difficult for those who only spend a limited amount of time in the area, compared to those of us who have fished the Skeena for decades. My advice, hire a guide for a float and some walk ins, for the future, it will reward you in the long run. Tight lines ( Big Red ) Do you find this valuable?
