Wondering

I take a look at this site a couple of times a week. I'm a Dutch steelhead junk and each year in fall, I spent 2 weeks in the Skeena area in for my annual queste for wild steelhead. I don't like to place questions, but the picture that Mr. Durrius Baker send in looks strange to me.
I've fished the Kispiox now since 1990 and rafted most parts below KM sign 45, but I cannot remember a spot at the banks that is familiar to that picture. As far as I remember, at each place stones and rocks hit the water, not earth and grass.
And the way this gentleman holds the fish, well I remember the Kispiox steelhead as really wild, slippery, moving fish, even after a long fight.
Well, I only spend 2 weeks a year there, so I shall be wrong.

And Red, I like your blog!!!

Hi Brambo, sorry you are wrong. There are many places along the Kispiox that has grass and dirt banks, but it is not usually that noticable because the river is lower. This year the river was high most of the year, on a normal year the river would not reach these places and therefore you would not notice. Gravel bars normally visable and dry were not this year because of the high water. Thanks for the kind words on the blog. There may not be much to add to the blog this year as Winter has set in. There is a chance I will add a few things before the end of the year, and I still hope to get out a couple of times in December if it warms up. Till Later ( Big Red ) Do you find this valuable?

No problem Brambo, if you fished the Kispiox this last season you would have noticed how high the river was. In fact all the rivers held higher levels then normal. Many gravel bars were under water. It was also a low cycle year for Steelhead and a peak year for some Salmon runs. Enjoyed your comments, love hearing them. Till later ( Big Red ) Do you find this valuable?
