My name is Steve Guille, I've been fishing on the Cowichan River for the last 15 years. I was lucky enough to run into Don Lambie 5 years ago on the Bulkley River. That day I was walking down the hill to the Plant run, and I noticed this old dude launching a pretty decent cast. If anyone knows Don it doesn’t take him long to say howdy and then present a fairly convincing argument on the superior virtues of his fly patterns. I felt a bit conflicted, I didn’t want to abandon the hours I had spent on my own patterns, but his flies looked really horny. To make a long story short I stuck with my fly that day and fished behind Don. Within minutes he was tethered to a 16 lb heart breaker, I reeled in and watched the show. Tired and skunked I drove back to my motel with a pocket full of Don’s flies. The next morning I landed a beautiful 15 lb hen on the Scarlet dancer. That was one of the prettiest fish I’ve ever caught. Thanks Don!
